ICHAT vs. FBI Background Check

ICHAT searches only Michigan State Police records and is what most Michigan employers use. The FBI's national check (via fingerprints) pulls from all states and is used for federal jobs, immigration, and many licensed professions. A Michigan set-aside removes the conviction from ICHAT and should propagate to the FBI record, but the federal update can lag by months.
