Michigan Clean Slate Law Explained

Michigan's Clean Slate law took effect in April 2021 and expanded expungement dramatically. You may petition to set aside up to three felonies and any number of misdemeanors. First-offense DUI became eligible in 2022. Multiple offenses from a single 24-hour incident can count as one conviction. Certain crimes — life felonies, CSC 1st-3rd degree, terrorism, and serious traffic offenses — remain permanently ineligible.
